I was wondering if someone can give advice on best travel options from Mysuru to Pondicherry?
I was looking at trains but could find no direct trains and working out the connections is difficult. Maybe bus would be better!
I don't really intend to stop in Bengaluru as such but can do for 1 night if its easier.
Thanks

Trains may be inconvenient as you have to take 3 trains: Mysore to Katpadi to Villupuram to Pondicherry.

Easier option would be to take a Mysore - Bangalore bus and then another bus from Bangalore - Pondicherry. You may find this link useful to book bus tickets. You need not stay in Bangalore. (The new names are Bengaluru and Mysuru).

This is a state run bus operator and quite comfortable.

I think it runs only on Friday, isn't it?

Can you also tell me what PF means in the schedule?

The train mentioned by aarosh runs on Fridays between Yesvantpur and Pondy, but there is another train Chalukya Express (Train #11005) - that runs 3 days in a week (Mon,Tue & Sat).

Thanks a lot. Really appreciate the info. This question has vexed me a lot in recent train searches. Reading some of these train sites is a veritable obstacle course sometimes for someone not used to it on a regular basis.

The only problem with erail.in is that it shows availability only in chrome after you install a plug in.
