Mysore to Kochi/Ernakulam
Hi
I've had a look through various threads covering travel from Mysore to Kochi/Ernakulam. I've ruled out trains as it looks like I'd have to go back to Bangalore to make the connection. My guide book tells me that there are buses that do this route, however most posts that I have read on this site seem to suggest its not as straight forward as getting a direct, over night bus from Mysore to Kochi/Ernakulam. Also I can't find any information on the internet about this bus route. Does anyone have experience of this journey, and if there is a bus can it be booked online or by phone prior to the departure date. Any advise is gratefully received. |

Eddie,
There are few buses from Mysore to Ernakulam Directly . For timings and online booking Karnataka Government buses you could try out www.ksrtc.in - E-Reservation. Volvo A/C will take around 8 hours and Normal buses will take around 11 Hours and be aware all these buses come from Bangalore and hence reserve well in advance. As you already browsed our forum, If you would like to avoid the uncomfortable long tiring Journey in a bus, you could get back to Bangalore and Board direct train to Ernakulam JN .. In Addition to Government buses, there are few Private Buses too from Mysore for which I don't think you could book it online . Hope this helps Velu |

thanks for this. Having looked at various options I think I'm going to go back to Bangalore and then get the train out.

Hi Eddie,
I personally would recommend you take a bus to Ernakulam from Mysore rather than going to Bangalore. It is like travelling to London from Cardiff to go to Glasgow, which i did once. There are lot of buses from Mysore, including the private buses and though the journey may be a little uncomfortable, you can save on time. http://marinersdiary.blogspot.com |

There is no point in boarding a bus and travelling for 11 hours and even 200 Rs Or 2.5 hours is NOT really a Problem for the comfort a train provides !Just My opinion. Cheers Velu |
