mysore-chennai-bangalore
i'm planing my 1st trip to india in november. i was thinking of staying about 4 days (more-or-less) in each of the above cities. in your experience is that too much time, or too little? can you suggest any other easily accesible stops in the south? my time isn't limited, but i would like to keep it under 3 weeks.
unfortunately i'm going solo, so by your experience should that be a problem for a 22yo female? i've heard mostly good things about traveling on my own in india, but that was from people who traveled in company ![]() Last edited by maja_eco : May 30th, 2005 at 22:49. |

You are welcome to the southern states. Please note it should be Chennai-bangalore-mysore. or Bangalore-Mysore-Chennai.
I think 4days in Bangalore and Chennai is a bit long..You can shorten it to 2days at the most and can see other places. Mysore has much to offer much .You can visit Coorg, a hill stations and visit coffee plantations. You can include Kerala state and some places like Madurai in Tamilnadu.Ofcourse you can keep all under 3 weeks. If you need detailed places to visit pls let me know. As a solo female traveller you wil have no problem except that people will stare at you..some may like to talk to you and many will try to help you as muc as possible. But you have to take normal precautions. |

Hi maja:
You trip is in the area of my childhood days. I grew up in Chennai (always be Madras to me) and my home town is Bangalore. My family comes out of Mysore many moons ago. I agree with all the above poster recommended. I wouldn't travel at night alone as a girl. That is just normal and sensible precaution to take. I would add a great place we visited near Mysore. It was wildlife viewing at the Nagerhole National Park. Good wild life viewing and if I am correct Novemebr is excellent viewing season. But check that out with locals. By the way look at IndiaMike/Hotel Listings/ Karnataka and you will find the place we stayed at: Jungle Inn. Superb viewing great food, excellent service. A must see along with other stight seeings. Also mention my name Dan Devadatta since I know the owner SR Aruna and his son Deepu. That migh help. Hope your plans work well..

It is not advisable to go solo in the night in any country unless there is an emergency. This is a normal precaution that every foreign female tourist takes. If you go solo in the night, you may invite trouble for yourself.
