my itinerary..trains?buses?
hello everyone...ill be arriving in delhi in 3 days! ive only got about 5 weeks in india... my plan thus far is: from delhi - jaipur - pushkar - udaipur - mumbai - goa (would like to spend bout 1 1/2 weeks there)...then from goa, maybe head over to varanassi for a few days - agra - then back to finish in delhi
![]() it seems doable to me, but then again ive never been to india? my question is: i havent booked any trains yet and i cant over the internet unfortunately...so i figured id just book something (bus or train, i have no idea what best between these destinations?) to jaipur (my first stop) when i arrive in delhi. but am wondering if this isnt far enough in advance? what is far enough in advance in india during this month??? is it possible trains could be booked out? (uhh, is this a dumb question?) thanks so much...i love this site! if you have any other ideas or concerns about my itinerary please let me know. |

don't worry!
if you have never been to india by now ask the hotel clerk in delhi to book the first train/bus ticket for your. i do not think that you will have to book a hotel or bus/train far in advance, even if the trains are fully booked you will be able to get a "luxury" bus ticket anytime... Check the rates on the net or in your travel guide and don't let anybody fool you... Wish you a nice trip phil |

Okay, here is what I would do:
Delhi-Agra-Varanasi-Delhi ------------------------- One suggestion - I think visiting Varanasi from Goa is little outof the way, rather I suggest, from Agra take that night train that goes to Varanasi. Again from Varanasi, get bck to Del and then continue with your Rajasthan tour (Jaipur onwards). Delhi-Jaipur-(Other places in Rajasthan)-Mumbai-Goa-Mum --------------------------------------------------- Fly bck home from Mumbai Train would be the most preferred way of travel. You could also consider buses for your Delhi, Agra, Rajasthan tour. Varanasi is definitely by train. Visit Indian railways website, chk for availability of tickets. |
