Kodi well known as " kodaikanal " a well known hill station in the south.Best time of visit is in the monsoon season late June -
Sept / Oct. Kodaikanal is 10 hrs drive from bangalore, there are busess which ply from bangalore every night ( KSRTC 12 hrs drive ), now that u are in mumbai reach bangalore and either drive for take a bus ( much cheaper and economical ) - B'lore - salem - Dindukal Rd - Kodi) Also try if u have a train / Air serive from mumbai to Madurai , that the closest Airport. Many Passenger trains pass through Kodaikanal road. Kodairoad Station is nearly 80 kms n then hire a cab to get up hill in 2 hrs. The south west monsoon has hit kerala , so kodi is getting their share of rains from the past week. The lightling n thunder is gonna make the " green carpet bloom with shrooms " ...Have a nice time.

Starts Mumbai CST at 12:00 noon reaches Kodaikanal Road 20:30 the next day. A short [90 min] bus ride takes you to the hill station from the train station.

Why not fly? Mumbai to Chennai, then there are several daily flights to Madurai. From Madurai you can hire a car or take a bus.
Ground transport from Mumbai to Kodai will take a very long time. |

Bangalore should play some part in the route, there is a well timed overnight train from Bangalore (and Mysore) to Kodaikanal Rd station, a bus from the station to Kodaikanal should take a bit over 2 hours (from memory, please check).
From Mumbai, you can take a direct train to Bangalore (24 hours), or break the journey, Miraj, Kolhapur, Goa and Solapur all have overnight trains from Mumbai and to Bangalore, though not all are daily, Goa-Bangalore is only 3 days a week.
