Mumbai/Rajastan/Amistar/Delhi/Agra/Varanasi in July/Aug?
I've read so many posts and recommendations, and I truely appreciate all the suggestions and advice. I have 28 days for my first trip to India and hope to do the following circle:
Mumbai Ahmedabad Udaipur Jodhpur Jaisalmer Amistar/Attari Shimla (maybe) Delhi Agra Varanasi Mumbai I'm flexible and not sure how much time to spend in each location, but this seems like a nice little circle. Anyone have suggestions or see any problems I might run into? Thanks! |

Hi!
Welcome to IndiaMike! You would certainly have enough time to visit all of the places that you mention and in essence your 'circle' would work with just a few alterations. I'm pretty sure that you would have to head back to Delhi from Jaisalmer before heading to Amritsar. There is an airport in Jaisalmer but I don't think its fully operational. It is a lot easier to get to Dharamsala from Amritsar than Shimla. Personally I think Dharamsala and Mcleod Ganj are a lot more interesting than Simla. Finally - I assume you will fly from Varanasi back to Mumbai? Ben

Thanks for the info, especially about having to go to Delhi before Amritsar. Looks like there should be an easier way, so that's good to be aware of.
Also thanks for your opinion about Dharamsala and Mcleod Ganj. I kind of think it's going to have to be one or the other. Might be a game-time decision. I'm going to go with the flow when I get there, but it's really good to hear that you think I have the time to see those places. I hope to do it all by train/bus, but we'll see how the time goes. Thanks again. |
