Hi there - I'm new on this site today cant believe how many questions I had and have found answers for on this site! Thank you!

I've recently turned my hair red so am sure I'll get attention for that, let alone the fact that I'm a typical english rose - pasty white and blue eyed lol.I guess you just have to have that GODASH attitude - just Dont give a S*** . It all adds to the experience! I cant wait to get there.

HELP: Can anyone help or tell me where to post to help with my travel itinery? I have 4 weeks with a male friend, first time we've been to Asia, flying out to Mumbai on 30th Jan.

BUDGET:The budget Im aiming at is low to mid budget, as in all I want is running water for a shower every night and clean sheets on the bed, is that realistically too much to expect for across india easily within that budget?

ROUTE: very flexible at the moment. As i said - Im starting at Mumbai - and plan to head straight down to Kerala, then head north to Agra/ Delhi, then west to Jaipur/ Jodphur/ Jaisalmere, ending back in Mumbai for my flight home. Is this at all achievable in 4 weeks?

TRANSPORTATION: We want to try all modes of transportation, and will be willing to get an internal flight to seve us a few days of waiting around for a tarin that would take 3 times as long. Are internal flights cheapish and relatively easy to get? and regular? Im thinking mainly the Goa to Delhi route as heard its teh closest airport from Kerala to Delhi?

Please help!

Please please help!

Oh and forgot to say that we want to have a good balance of both the touristy side, and then the 'Real India' side. So any recommendations or itinery plans you can give me for those 4 weeks would be brilliant!

Hello Korri and welcome to indiamike.com

I've got a feeling that your not fully aware of the distances involved in your itinerary, so I'll just give a brief idea of the train times.

Most of what you want to see in Kerala will be in Cochin or south of Cochin.

Mumbai-Cochin = over 26 hours.
Cochin-Delhi = 38 hours (Tu & Th only) or 49 hours (daily)

There are airports with direct flights to Delhi at Cochin and Trivandrum.

Delhi-Agra = 2-3 hours
Agra-Jaipur = 5 hours
Jaipur-Jaisalmer = 13 hours
Jaisalmer-Jodhpur = 6 hours
Jodhpur-Mumbai = 17 hours

All those times are on the fastest trains, and most of the trains should be booked at the earliest opportunity (a few weeks ago).

What would you consider low to mid budget?

Cochin flight

Hi,
FYI... I just booked a flight from Cochin to Delhi, cost about Rs4000 (£50) with Spicejet. Flight is direct and only takes 3 hours, leaving at 13.00 arriving at 16.00, think its a daily flight.
