Mumbai and the South

Hello

Can anybody recomend a half decent hotel to stay for one night in Mumbai

Also can people suggest their favourite places in the South of India. Not Goa or Hampi.. maybe some places in Tami Nadu or enroute to Pondicherry?

You have lots n lots of options to stay in Mumbai. Do you have any specific location that you may want to stay in ?
In Tamil Nadu, lots of tourist places.. depends what your interest is .. if you want to go for a cool hill station .. then there is Ooty, Kodai Kanal, Yercaud. If you are interested in seeing temples and other heritage buildings, then there is Madurai, Trichy, Thanjavur.

I don't think I could run to 'favourites' without getting too long a list!

We enjoyed the temple trail through Tamil Nadu - just pick out the ones that most interest you and pull together an itinerary to match your time. You'll never run out of temples, but your feet may get sore.....

For us, visitng Chettinad in Tamil Nadu was a highlight. The Chettiars were wealthy merchants who built whole villages full of mansions. These are now crunbling away, but make for a fascinating visit to a very different side of India from anything we had seen before.
