Monsoon Month in the South
Hello! I'm heading to India for the first time in July, I cant wait and am looking forward to experiencing the Monsoon, but coming from England I dont want to be rained on my whole trip! I fly into Mumbai on July 11th and fly out from Bangalore on the 10th of August. If anyone could suggest the following:
A)Places worth visiting and can be reached by Public Transport B)Places that may attract other travellers this time of year C)Places that are less likely to be rainy (Tamil-Nadu/Madras?) I really am pretty lost about the whole thing so if anyone could suggest an Itinery that would be great! Thanks alot for your time, Dave |

Chennai is unlikely to be rainy --- but we had regular rain last June/July!

South India Monsoon:Mumbai to Bangalore in August?
Hello, I fly to Mumbai in July and out from Bangalore in August. PLEASE can someone suggest an itinery? I dont want to be stuck in the rain all the time, and I've read its advisable to get away from Mumbai this time of year? How about kerala backwaters? Also what is the best way to get about in monsoon season?
Thank you VERY much for any help, it is greatly needed! |

Thanks for your replies! I'm still really stuck for an Itinery. I'm not worried about getting a bit wet, but dont want to be in a situation like Mumbai 2005. Where else in the country would people be travelling this time of year? Thanks

best option for you would be to head to Tamil Nadu.
I'd take a train or flight from Mumbai to Chenai and than i would travel down the coast with stops in Mamalapuram and Pondichery and some places inland that apeal to you after reading here http://www.indiamike.com/india/tamil-nadu-f40/
