I am living in mumbai, looking at your itineraries, I would suggest that if you go by train, it will take 2 days from mumbai to amritsar. so, you will have to reduce your stay if you travel by train. Even if you want to travel by train, I would suggest you to book the train tickets well in advance. Or it will be anyday better to fly. As there are a lot of discounted tickets available if you book well in advance. That will save time and money. When you are in Amritsar, Do visit Wagha Border( INDO-PAK BORDER) Parade, its worth seeing. If you are fond of spicy food, Visit Kesar Da Dhaba in Amritsar and drink lassi ( Thick butter milk ) |

Shailesh - thanks for your input. Any suggestions on places that will be cool during the summer that might be a better trip than Amritsar/Haridwar?

There's soo many possibilities of places to go for the short time your there. I personally like the Kumaon District north of Delhi. It's closer to Delhi, so it might give you a day or 2 extra up there. www.kmvn.org is a good site of info on that area. |

Thanks for the input Ananda - is the Kumaon region much closer to Delhi? If so, maybe I'll pass on Manali and shorten my travel time...

http://nainital.nic.in/ www.nainitaltourism.com From Nainital you can see places like Kausani, Ranikhet, Binsar, Jageshwar, Almora, etc. You would probably save around 4 or more hours in travel time each way if you went to Kumaon. ![]() |
