Maximum coverage at lower costs of Nashik-Shirdi-Aurangabad-Ajantha & Ellora

Dear All,

Can u guide me on the maximum coverage at lower costs of the following places in the duration given -
06.10.10 - Leaving Bangalore in KTK Express
07.10.10 ( Thursday) - reaching Manmad Station at 14.50 Hrs
- would like to go to Nashik by train or bus ( if connecting train is not there immediately)
- stay planned at our community rest house at Nashik.
- would like to visit Tryambakeshwarar Temple on the same day after bath at Kushavarta Teerth
- stay at Nashik rest house
08.10.10( Fri) - sight seeing at Nashik and stay at Nashik rest house
09.10.10( Sat) - would like to visit Aurangabad - Ajantha & Ellora Caves and return to Shirdi at night and stay there overnight
10.10.10 ( Sun) - Sai Baba Darshan, Shirdi Local sight seeing and visit to Shani Signapur and to reach Kopergaon within 16.45 Hrs for departure to Manthralayam by Train

Train arrival and departure is fixed. Any changes within this trip duration to make the maximum coverage at lower costs can be done.

No idea about the stay costs at Shirdi - which hotel is good, what is the cost for a family of four, whether temple trust hotels provide advance online bookings or not, etc. That's why the trip is planned by anchoring at Nashik ( Though Aurangabad is farther from there as compared to Shirdi). Should I stay at Shirdi from 08.10.10 night and make the coverage or my present travle plan is o.k.?

Can some one help me plan with more details about the way in which I should cover these areas within the available time. Whether Bus/ tourist bus or taxi would be ideal to cover these areas, what would be the approx cost in each mode (if any idea is there),etc

Your Aurangabad plan sounds terribly ambitious to me. The distances are somewhat like this:
Nasik - Aurangabad: 218 km
Aurangabad to Ellora: 15 km
Aurangabad to Ajanta: 110 km.

I don't know about the costs, but Shirdi is only around 120 km from Aurangabad, I think. What I would suggest is that after your Nasik sightseeing is done on the 8th, you should take a train the same evening to Aurangabad instead of staying in Nasik. The Jan Shatabdi train will take you less than four hours. Tickets are available, you should book them soon.

When we went to Ajanta it took us the whole day, but if you leave really really early and finish Ajanta by lunchtime then you might be able to get to Ellora before evening though I don't see how one could possibly squeeze in Aurangabad. The journey to Shirdi (Kopargaon station) by train takes four hours but all trains leave after midnight and reach Shirdi after the morning darshan, so it best to hire a car or check out the bus options from Aurangabad to Shirdi, so that you can reach there on the night of Oct 9 and stay overnight.

Hope that helps!
