Manali-Kufri-Dalhousie trip in Dec

Hi friends ,

I am a newbee here. I am planning a trip in Himachal in Dec this year for a week.We wish to leave Kolkata on 8th December and visit Manali and Kufri. Meanwhile Dalhousie is a a favourite for both of us. Hence we wish to tag it as well & return to Kolkata on 16th Dec. Can anyone please suggest us a detailed itinerary for this trip?Also what kind of arrangements should we keep under consideration for the extreme cold weather at that time?Any suggestions for hotels that we should check in?

Are you planning to travel by train from Kolkata to Delhi and back? If yes then it might not be possible to see all the 3 places mentioned.

Delhi to Manali by road will take at least 10 hours. Kufri is near Shimla. Dalhousie is in another corner of Himachal.

Well, we are going by flight from Kolkata to Delhi and back to save time.

I suggest following:
Koltata - Delhi - Train to Pathankot - Dalhousie - Manali - Shimla - Delhi - Kolkata

This can be done other way around too i.e. doing Shimla first and Dalhousie at the end (you can decide on it based on train ticket availability)

while nk has given you the best itinerary - you will get barely two clear days each at Manali and Dalhousie. My suggestion is drop Dalhousie (it is a nice place but there are other nice places near manali / shimla as well). You could do Tirthan valley near Kullu or Narkanda near Shimla.

I second; that's too much to cover in short time that too when all places are in different corners.
Both the places suggested Narkanda and Tirthan are good destinations.

Thanks a lot friends for the suggestions following which i think I can consider a tour from Kolkata-Delhi-Tirthan-Manali within 8th Dec and 16 th Dec.
Can you please suggest a nice accomodation in Manali and in Tirthan which are easily accessible? I have learnt about Raju's homestay at Tirthan from other threads. Does it provide proper facilities considering the harsh cold weather in December and have attached bathroom facility? If yes can anyone give me the booking details for the cottage as well as the booking for taxi from Aut to Tirthan and from Tirthan to Manali?

Thanks Aarosh. As we will go to Manali via Delhi, I need suggestions for nice hotel accomodation near the New Delhi Railway Stn and the HPTDC bus depot at 36, Janpath. The check in timing of the hotel needs to be before 10:00 am or it will be good if there are no such restrictions regarding the check in check out timing as most of the hotels I have checked offer check in after 12:00 hrs . But we will reach New Delhi railway stn from Howrah by 9:00am and plan to leave for Manali same day by the HPTDC evening volvo.

We have finally returned from the amazing trip covering Tirthan, Solang and Manali via Delhi in a time span of one week .Stayed at Raju's cottage at Tirthan .The place is simply wonderful. Trekked at Jalori pass. Got amazing view at Solang. Did white water rafting and paragliding. Visited Manali and its surroundings travelling upto Manikaran. And to put icing on the cake, experienced snowfall twice(once while going to Solang and again in Manali, the day we returned). But based on personal experience will never suggest anyone to visit Hadimba Cottage at Manali during this season. The food was awful, very poor service from staff. They cut off the phone connectivity with reception after serving dinner. So in case of any emergency you are left absolutely helpless. Horrible experience.
