Long weekend suggestions from Pune

Hi Guys,

I am looking forward for some sugesstions for a long weekend trip from Pune (upcoming 29th Sep-2nd Oct).
I'm a little concerned about going to beaches as perhaps they would be a better option after the monsoons.(?)
I've already covered Mahabaleshwar,Shirdi and a lot of nearby spots recently and am looking to utilize the long weekend for something which can't be done in a day or two.
Plan this trip with my wife, mother and a 13 month kid.

Thanks!!

I Agree that the beach can be savoured for the winters. Considering your small kid and mother , who might not be keen on a lot of complicated walks down waterfalls or small treks.

I think a good route could be kaas - thosegarh - sajjangarh and a days stay in satara. Move to the Koyna dam in Karad and spend a day there.

Second option can be go diretcly to amba ghat and spend some time in pavankhind.
Bike rides - Kashmir to Leh and Sikkim, Jungle safaris - Corbett,Chikhaldara, Kanha and Gorumara. Traveled through MP, Himachal, J&K, Maharashtra, W.Bengal, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Goa, Karnataka, AP . . . Yet feel so New to traveling in India.

Thanks new_traveller . The places suggested are good but I feel could be covered on any regular weekend. Kaas is already on cards if I dont go anywhere else and extending the trip to thosegarh - sajjangarh would be a good idea , if one leaves early I guess all of the above could be done in a days trip.
Any more sugesstions I could utilize the long weekend for? Driving 6- 8 hours would not be an issue.

A lot of things in satara except kaas and thosegarh together can be covered in a day. Thats why i had added the koyna dam on the same route.

Why not check amba ghat in that case.

Have you considered Aurangabad and Lonar lake? Bhandardhara and Igatpuri can be another option.
Kedar Janani Devasthan, Mt Abu - Udaipur, Bharatpur, Agra, Gwalior, Orchha, Jhansi

Great suggestion, I avoided aurangabad as it has too much of a walk for the caves, the fort etc. And his mother and kid might not be able to do all that. But lonar or the others should be a great alternative.

What about beaches? Is it a good idea to visit any beaches at this time?

With your OP saying you have a little concern on beaches due to monsoon. Anyway the long weekend is starting in afew hours and you still evaluating options?

Try Tarkarli or Dapoli. Some good options for an extended long weekend till 2nd Oct

It was quite a hectic week and I didnt get the time to plan the vacation. Have visited a lot of mountains/waterfalls recently so thought beach would be refreshing change (if at all durign this season). How about Diveagar/Harihareshwar?
