Don't feel guilty for taking it easy the first few days.

Don't forget to have fun!

Regarding Agra and hot marble -- wow, just a few short months ago I was in Agra and just about froze my little tootsies off on the early morning Taj. Here we are at the end of may and now it's going to be the opposite...

Chaia and others -

First off, many many thanks to the entire IM community. I will write up a bigger thank you when I do my trip report but I have received many compliments from my friends living in Mumbai and other people I have met regarding my knowledge of India.

First impressions - nothing at all like I thought it would be. Keep in mind that my first few days have been in Mumbai, one of the biggest cities on the entire planet! Even coming from New York (I was born and live in Manhattan) the crowds of people, smells, staring (I assume because I'm the only American on the street), etc. are completely overwhelming. Also, taxi drivers never know where to go and they always have to pull over to ask for directions!

With all that said - the people are truly the warmest I have ever met, the food is totally mind-blowing, and I have seen things in the past few days that are unlike things I have ever seen before. More news when I get up to Manali...

I wudn't assume that, unless you're wearing a large sign around your neck that says "'I'm American".
I assume it's becos you are melanin-challenged (if indeed you are, I have no way of knowing that either ).

Well, that's a compliment to the board if ever I saw one! Thanks!
