Kochi to Mysore

Hello,
nextweek I go to Kochi. From Kochi I will go to Mysore and further to Bangalore, Hampi. What is the best way to go to Mysore? Train or bus or should I try to fly to Bangalore?

Don't know your budget but I always took the private, Volvo bus from Kochi (buses leave every day from various cos. all centered near Jos Junction and MG Rd) to Mysore; goes straight up the Hwy and over a thrilling Ghats section (ideally in daytime for views). Then through Bandipur Natl Forest (less exciting now that Veerappan is history). Approximately 12 hours! Cheap and best.

If you are not game for Ghats driving in bus (can cause motion sickness) you can take the evening train to Bangalore and a lot of busses/trains connect you from Bangalore to Mysore.

Bang out side the Bangalore city station, you have the Majestic bus stand where there are non stop busses, which leave on seats becoming full to Mysore.. Hence, every 10-20 mins a buss would leave for Mysore depending on the time of the day..

@@What would be the approximate distance between Kochi and Mysore in this Route? What are the important Towns that you have come across in this Route?

The distance by train from Kochi to Mysore would be as follows:-
Ernakulam-Shoranur...............108Kms.
Shoranur-CBE-Salem..............263Kms.
Salem-Bangalore....................2 15Kms.
Bangalore-Mysore..................139Kms .
Total......................... .........725Kms.
----
............and there is no Direct Train from Kochi to Mysore!!!!!
Passengers have to travel by Island Express upto Bangalore and then take a connecting train to Mysore. In addition to Island Express, two non-daily trains provide 5-day service to Bangalore.
