Hello, I travelled on the Kangra valley railway a couple of months ago and found it hard to get up to date information on the correct train times, so I thought I'd tell you what was on the departure board at Pathankot as I went through;

Leaving Pathankot at and destination;

I really enjoyed our rail trip, less dramatic than the Ooty train, but still a worthwhile day. I went from Kangra Mandir (11.20, but ran 40 mins late) to Paprola and got the bus back to Dharamasala.

The temple at Baijnath can be reached by alighting at Paprola. There'll probably be a taxi waiting to take you to the temple for 100 rupees, but you can walk up the passage to the main road in Paprola to get a bus (just stand by everyone else rather than look for a bus stand) for 2 rupees.

For the latest train times, I called the train line in Dharamasala on +91-1892-226711, who couldn't make a reservation for a seat, but did give me the local train station numbers so that I could find out when the train was arriving and if there were any delays.
