Itinerary Advice
We have already designed our tour, which would be as follows:
Delhi (2 nights), mandawa (1), jaisalmer (2), Jodhpur (2), udaipur (2), Bundi (1), Pushkar (1), Jaipur (2), Agra (2), Orcha (1), Kajuraho (1), Varanasi (1), train (1), Delhi (1). ¿Is it a too compressed tour? ¿Would you change any night? In most places whre we stay two nights, we will arrive late afternoon and will leave early morning. The same for Agra, where ¿does it worth two nights? |

Most of your travel is daytime travel, such a waste, but thats your choice.

Well, that is one of our options, but not the last one. That´s why I am seeking for advice in this forum. We have 21 days to spend in Rajasthán, but we still don´t know how and where. ¿Any suggestion? Thanks

We visit Fatehpur Sikri on our way from Jaipur to Agra, that´s because we doubt whether to spend one or two nights in Agra

Hi, One night is enough in Agra and from Mandawa to Jaisalmer is very far (9hrs drive) so i recommend to stay 1 night in Bikaner and visit mice temple on the way to Jasalmer next day.

You are right. I forgot Bikaner (it is in our route). So you think it is enough fatheh sikri on the way to Agra from jaipur, then Taj majal, sleep and next day morning drive to Orcha?

made a different itinerary for you. See if it is worth playing with.
Day 1...Arrive Delhi Day 2...Depart Delhi morning...fly to Udaipur Day 3...Udaipur rent car and driver Day 4...JAISAMAND ISLAND RESORT ( this is if you are a couple0 Day 5...On to Ranakpur Day 6...Kumbhalgarh to Jodphur Day 7...Jodphur Day 8...4 hours to Jaisalmer Day 9...Jaisalmer Day 10...Jaisalmer Day 11...car to Jodphur fly to Delhi then to Varanasi Day 12...Varanasi Day 13...Varanasi Fly to Khajuraho Day 14...Khajuraho Day 15...car to Orcha Day 16...Jhansi train to Agra Day 17...Agra train in evening to Jaipur Day 18...Jaipur Samode Palace (expensive) Day 19...Jaipur to Delhi train in the evening Day 20...Delhi extra day in Udaipur or after Jodphur go to Pushkar, then to Jaipur, then the Varanasi, Khajuraho, Orcha, Agra, Delhi This is a lot less driving will only cost $400 per person using Jetairways a better Indian airline. An unadvertized special is 4 segments for $400 to be used in 90 days. This is based on your convenience and a medium budget. reasons for second itinerary For some of us the farther from the large polluted cities we are the happier our experience. I have thrown in some tranquil places to go. Certainly Delhi, Jaipur, Varanasi, parts of Jodphur, and especially Agra are polluted cities. Look for the thread on coughs and pollution. Driver and car can be had in Udaipur for $32 a day including 500km. The advantage of a driver is you get a guide and an interpreter and someone to watch your stuff while your touring. Basically he is a help whenever you need him. Many middle class Indians either fly or use a driver, it is just convenient. |

You might want to add up the kilometers...
Most of the time you can average 30 to 40 kph. I took a luxury taxi (Honda Accord) on Sunday from Delhi to Agra and it still took close to 5 hours with rest stops. (This is one of the better highways in India approximately 200k). My thoughts are hopefully helpfull, use them as you see fit. Another option would be Jodphur, Pushkar, Jaipur, Agra, Orcha, Khajuraho, Varanasi, fly Delhi.
I think you present itinerary will have you in your car more than would be enjoyable. (for me at least.) Have fun. Buen Suerte |
