Itinerary advice regarding Kerala-Tamil Nadu-Karnataka
Hello IMs,
I am planning to travel for Honeymoon with my wife starting at end of December for about 10 days. I would like to visit one Hill station (4 nights) and one Coastal place (3 nights). I have following rough Itinerary in my mind. But I need some suggestions and help because I am travelling for the first time in South India. - Flight from Mumbai to Kochi(Cochin) (spend 2-3 Days in Kochi) - Cochin to Mettupalayam and then Mettupalayam to Ooty (by Nilgiri Mountain Toy Train) (spend 4 days in Ooty) - Ooty to Mysore (by Bus) (spend 2 days in Mysore) - Mysore to Bangalore (by train) and then fly back to Mumbai Any suggestion or comment is highly appreciable. Thanks in advance, max ![]() |

Wildlife
I was just in Bangalore- Mysore area. Took the time to do some wildlife viewing at Nagerhole ( a drive from Mysore) Saw the Mysore Palace lite for Dassera, which is over by the time you go. But I think they light the palace on Sunday night. Must see the palace for sure. Most of all eat lots of vegetarian food. Very good in Mysore. Have the Mysore Coffee as well. Man am i getting hungry

Hello, Max! Greetings from California.
Congratulations on your upcomoing betrothal! I did similar route in Decelber last yr. First thoughts: Coastal place: If that is Kochi, two to three nights is too much. It is a fascinating city, but NOT worth three days of a week-long trip. By "coastal" do you mean a place by a beach? There may be other, better options, unless yo specifically WANT to stay that long in Kochi. "Hill place": consider Coonoor instead or in addition--smaller than Ooty but quite near. Also with lovely park, and by beautiful scenery. Taking the "Toy Train" is an excellent idea!!!!! If you dont mind, please send your budget for overnight places, and if ok, I can recommend a few. We were fortunate to stay in some wonderful places which would be great for honeymoon, and we met many happy honeymooners I agree wtih above from Daniel. Since you will be in the area (between Ooty and Mysore) IF you've any interest in wildlfe, it might be fun to take some time away from the"4 days in Ooty" and spend two of it in Nagarhole. I recently read that the Mysore Palace is lit now on Saturdays as well as Sundays. Best wishes to you as you plan this joyous time in your life. |
