Is this a feasible itinerary? North and South in 10 weeks

Hi all,

I am off to India in October with my girlfriend. We will be travelling for 10 weeks. General plan is to see as much as possible and we aim to split the trip in half - 5 weeks in the north and then 5 weeks in the south, with a big old train journey from Kolkatta to Chennai (broken up by a stop in Bhubaneshwar) dividing the 2 halves of the trip.
We will mainly be travelling by train and and although we want to see a lot of what India has to offer, we dont want to be rushing around constantly and want to do it at a reasonable pace.
Bearing this in mind, would the following be a reasonable itinerary for a 10 week trip:
Delhi - Shimla - Jodphur - Jaipur - Agra - Bandghavari (safari) - Varanasi - Calcuatta - Bhubaneshwar - Chennai - Thiruvanathapuram - Kochi - Mysore - Jog Falls - Honey Valley - Goa - Mumbai

Would appreciate some honest opinions on this cause I'm not sure whether we are stretching ourselves too much.

Many thanks in advance.

Sound ok, and a lot less rushed than many people try on their first visit.

After Bhubaneshwar (better place than Puri/Konark), try going to Rajahmundry, read the post below, then other posts after it for more details.

I think this looks perfect for 10 days. You would be able to make many sidetrips from these main destinations too, in the time you have. Make sure you book your trains as early possible. Happy Travels!

thank you so much for your replies - it has taken a lot of research but I am happy with the itinerary. If experienced travellers think its a good one then I'm happy to go with it. Without a doubt we will be branching out for day trips etc from each area. Thanks guys
