Is it possible to travel from Orchha to Agra and see the Taj in the same day?

Hi all, I thought I had my itinerary all planned out for my 3 week trip to Delhi in Jan until I happened to notice in my guide book that the Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays – the day we were palnning to be in Agra! This means I need a bit of a rethink.
Original plan was
Mon – fly into Khajuraho from Varanasi (arrive lunchtime)
Tue – spend most of the day in Khajuraho and hire a driver to Orchha late pm
Wed – Orchha all day
Thurs – Morning in Orchha and drive to Agra pm
Fri – Taj, Fort, Fatehpur Sikri then night train Bharatpur-Jodhpur (this train is booked)
With the Taj being closed on Fri I thought that perhaps we could leave Orchha earlier on the Thurs and see the Taj that afternoon. That would leave a less rushed day seeing Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri on the Friday but would cut our time down in Orchha.
Will we have time to see the Taj on the Thurs? I think it’s a 4/5hr drive from Orchha then we need to find our hotel and queue to get in. Will we need to leave Orchha mega early to do this or it is impossible?

The road between Orcha and Agra by car will take about 5 hours (or even more - if the traffic near Agra will be bad). In my opinion it's better to use a train from Jhansi - it takes only 3-3.5 hours (of course if the train is not late), than go straight to Taj, left your luggage at the luggage room at an entrance, visit Taj - and than go to the hotel. But I don't know about how long is the queue after the noon - as I always been there very early. Anyway - you have to start before noon, IMO

Thanks Wichy, we really want to do the Taj justice so we've decided to stay an extra day in Orchha and see the Taj on the Saturday when we can get there at sunrise and take our time.

I think - it's a best decision!!! At sunrise it's extremly beautiful, shades of marbe are changing as the sun is rising, and there are lesser visitors than later, so it's my fav time to see Taj
