India (Rajahstan & Kerala) & Sri Lanka in 5 weeks

Hi All,
I just wanted to get some advice regarding an itinerary for India & Sri Lanka for 5 weeks in late Dec and January.
Any advice on alternate routes or places I should miss or include will be welcome. I'd also like to take advantage of some cheap flights, especially from Raj to Kerala (not sure how easy it will be to book on short notice during peak season?).

Calcutta 1 night
Varanasi 3 nights
Khajuraho 2 nights
Orccha 2 nights
Agra 3 nights
Pushkar 3 nights
Jodphur 2 nights
Jaisalmer 4 nights
Mt Abu or Ranapkpur 2 nights
Udaipur 3 nights

This will leave 6 days in Kerala. What do people suggest for Kerala. Mysore -Ooty -Kochi - backwaters (can skip beaches and wait till Sri Lanka). Is it best to fly to Colombo from Kochi or Trivandrum?

*** The other option is to fly into Delhi and just see Agra, Rajahstan and Kerala and skip Calcutta, Varanassi, Khajuraho and Orccha?***
