Hi All,
I've wanted to visit India for years and I'm getting married in 2009. A great excuse to visit, BUT, is India suitable to visit in June? (heat etc...) Many thanks. |

Most areas in India will be very hot in June.
But this is the perfect time to visit ladakh. Check the ladakh forum for more ideas http://www.indiamike.com/india/ladakh-and-zanskar-f31/ |

If you are not going to the mountains, and are prepared to take it slow, drink more water than you can imagine, take siesta's and are good with heat, and love mangoes - yes, you can visit India in June :-) Make sure you stay long enough to experience the onset of the monsoon!

The monsoon starts, in Kerala, right at the beginning of June.
Chennai is cooling down compared to May, especially if we are lucky and get a shower or two, but not so as a visitor would notice! |

depends on where in india - the hills stations would be ideal. delhi-mumbai - forget it (far too hot).

If you like heat and HUMIDITY, anywhere is fine. I always go in June/July/August.
Last time I went to the North east states. No Humidity, cool nights, warm days. Darjeeling, Shillong etc. are incredible at that time of year. And NOT CROWDED.

It really does depend on what sort of honeymoon you want.
Without putting too fine a point on it, if you are wanting to spend most of the time together indoors in private enjoying each other's company and relaxing after the stresses of arranging the wedding, and only going out and enjoying the sights of India for just a few hours at a time, and if you don't mind if you can't wear makeup and getting a bit sweaty and rumpled, India in June would be a fantastic experience. For a start there are mangoes with a flavour that you would not believe! It is also monsoon time, and when the rains come it is a wonderful feeling and it's very exciting. Even in Delhi I've seen people run outside and dance in it, it's not at all like rains in England! If you were planning a honeymoon where you spent all day outside making the most of the opportunity to explore the sights and if you enjoy wearing makeup and so on, June really wouldn't be ideal for you unless you are very good at dealing with hot humid weather.
