India in Aug-Nov - see as much as poss

Hi Everyone,

I have just registered although have been looking for a while on this site and found it to be so helpful. Basically my fiance and I are going to India the beginning of August until the end of November so have four months there, I understand that our timing isnt great but we are getting married in Australia in December and have time constraints because of this.
We just want to see as much of India as possible, we are quite well travelled and have done the backpacking as well as luxury although prefer backpacking if honest. We have heard great things about Goa, Kerela and Sri Lanka but dont want to miss out on the North either. We are quite active and like doing activities and excursions, like the beach but also like rainforest trekking.
We have not booked flights yet so any suggestions as to where to fly into and out of would be helpful!

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Leanne.

Are you joking??? You have FOUR MONTHS, and even if India is a big country, it's really a lot of time for a holyday trip!

I consider one month already a long time for a trip, two months a life, three month a geological era... but four months for a trip are an eternity for me! I wish I had all this time to travel!!

Come on... don't follow too much the usual suggestions "for a real travel to India you need at least six months - one year - two years - half of your life - etc.", make a good planning and enjoy!

P.S.: yes, I envy you a lot!

Send a message via Yahoo to bijapuri
assuming a RT via Delhi:
I'd start with the mountains, and work my way down south via the western side of the penninsula, then back up again on the Bay of Bengal side. Ladakh and Zanskar should be relatively dry to start. September is hot but not crushingly so- in the 30's on the plains. You could traipse through Rajasthan, down thru Maharashtra and onto the south, and head back up north via Tamil Nadu, Orissa and Varanasi.

August/September - go to the Himalayas.
October - Rajasthan - Madhya Pradesh (everything will be lush after the rains)
November - South (Kerala, Goa)

Thanks for that - we think we are going to fly into either Mumbai or Delhi and out of Kolcata - we would like to spend a month in the North, 2 months travelling the South and hopefully a month in Sri Lanka.
