Smile Hyderabad to Delhi by Road

Hi,
I am looking for detailed and accurate advice for road travel by Santro from Hyderabad (AP) to New Delhi.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated on routes to follow, highway condition, safety, cost of hotels on route, transit time and other other information.

I plan to begin by coming Sunday/ Monday

thanks in advance for your help everyone.

If travelling with family, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Bhopal, Jhansi, Agra, Delhi. Better places to stay and more backup in case of problems.
Hyd Nagpur is around 500, Nagpur Bhopal around 350km and Bhopal Delhi about 750

If no family, you can consider Hyderabad Jabalpur Delhi.
(distances roughly 800 each leg)

Advantage of first route is better roads- NH throughout except Jhansi/Gwalior, which is normally excellent and touching big cities in case of car problems.

Second route is for the more adventurous, longer driving, fewer decent stay options in case of problems en route.

Suggest you take the first route and go slow. Many interesting places to stop at en route, depending on what tickles your fancy. Wildlife near Nagpur, the cities themselves, Sanchi, Agra, Orchha (always regretted not going there)

I have done both trips a few times, not recently though so can't give you current road conditions.

PS: With family:
On security, I but I would avoid driving at night in MP, Maharashtra and northern AP.
On safety, suggest start early each day and keep a few hours up your sleeve in case of car trouble.

Good morning Capt Mahajan,
Thank you for the super fast reply, I truly appreciate it.

Well this trip to the north right now is only me, no family really. but return trip would be with other members so at that time would consider stoppages for sightseeing.

Right now, the only consideration is to get to Delhi in minimum time and thru good roads, and safe roads. So is still route # 1 the best for me. though the santro is only 5 months old, so no major break down expected yet i would like top pass by places that are reliable and have repair facilities.

How many days do you expect this would take?
Thanks once again

Also i have heard of naxal / dacoit issues in north AP and MP, is this true, and is it otherwise safe to travel in the day. As i would probably carry some high value electronics with me

I have done Hyderabad Delhi in two days even with minor car problems using the Nagpur/Bhopal/Agra route. If you have driven long distance on Indian highways, this can be done, but it will be tiring.

If you start at 3.30 or 4am from Hyderabad, you should be passing Nagpur around lunchtime. I would head for Bhopal and plan to be there by 7 or 8pm. Any delays or tiredness affecting driving, I would stop wherever.

Next day, start early again, planning to reach Agra before sundown.

Agra to Delhi is well appointed for driving at night.

Solo long drives, carry enough music

And consider the Guna/Shivpuri (NH3??) route in MP, it is less trafficked.

Naxals are active well east of Nagpur and around the AP/Maharashtra border. Alone, it shouldn't be a problem. MP and beyond, it is more a law and order issue than a naxalite one (but I am not sure)- mainly at night
