Hyderabad to Calicut need advice

Hi friends, ive searched a lot of threads about Hyderabad to Calicut road route. Infact my destination is Mahe which is 60km before calicut. Im planning a bike ride down south and need advice from people who have taken this ride. I want to bypass bangalore. Is the Route, Hyd-Raichur-Adoni-Bellary-Hassan-Iritti-Calicut OK! i assume the route is roughly 900km. How long will it take to achieve this feat..? Your advice will be appreciated. I want to finish this ride in 1 day. I do not want to stop over to sleep other than refresh stopovers. I have a 150cc motorcyle.. Any tips, advice on long ride biking on this route will save me time surfing for answers ... hoping a reply soon..

MohdKareem, Welcome to IM

Even though you told you would like to Skip Bangalore, In My opinion, the best and Normal route [Especialy for your Biking Adventure is] : Hyderabad -Kurnool-Ananthapur- Bangalore [ NH-7 , Excellent Roads], Followed by Bangalore - Mysore [ SH-17, Excellent Roads], Followed by Mysore - Nanjangud-Gundlupet-Muthanga WLS-Sulthan Bathery-Mananthavady-Periya-Kuthuparamba-Mahe !

Reason Being , The Stretch between Virajpet - Iritti is at shambles [I mean Road is very very poor ] and for around 25 kms or so it's a highly forested / Highly Deserted road and Even My Office Colleagues [ Who are natives of Kannur / Thalaserry areas] who RARELY try out this stretch in their car[ For Mysore - Kannur,Mysore- Virajpet-Iritty-Kannur is the shortest route] will try to pass this Stretch between 8 am to 4 pm !.. This Route is used majorly by Karnataka / Kerala Government Buses and Lorries only !!

And Not sure about your experience level with Bikes But 900 kms in a day looks like a dificult task [ From My perspective] and need very good experience and especially Gundlupet-Muthanga WLS Or Virajpet-Iritty stretch you need to pass with care [ Due to Wildlife population and Very less traffic ]& it's advisable to cover between 8 am - 4 pm !

General Points:-
1) Travelling by Highways / Main roads is better as in case of Flat Tyre Or any other help you might need, Somebody will be there to help you [ This is Very much True for Karnataka - Kerala Border Areas .. I am Telling this from my own driving experience ]

2) After Mysore, You could find nice/ Clean road side hotels near Gundlupet .. Once this point is crossed, Best place to stop for anything is Sulthan Bathery

3) Eventhough the Mananthavady - Kuthuparamba Road is very scenic & Neatly paved, there is Very Very thin Traffic between Periya- Kuthuparamba even during the day time[ We did this Stretch in April 1st week , 2008]

And one last suggestion , If possible You could break the Journey near Bangalore[ Bangalore will be approximately Half- way] and continue on the next day Because even If you start from hyderabad by 6 am you will be reaching the KArnataka - Kerala Border after 5 pm which is not advisable [BTW I am assuming normal speed ] !!!!
