|  How to get from Hampi to Kolkata? Hi there, We are planing our trip to india starting end of June, 3 weeks. Our first stop is Kolkata and our last stop will be Hampi then we have to go back to kolkata to fly to Bangkok. Our question is how can we go to Kolkata from Hampi? Where is the nearest airport near Hampi that can fly to Kolkata? Btw, if we use train from Hampi to Kolkata, how long will it take? PS. The reason we may choose aieplane is that maybe we don't have enough time to go back to Kolkata. thanks a lot! Kevin & Regina |

| Taking the train: The best connected train station to go to Kolkata may be Bangalore. It takes nearly 36 hours from Bangalore to Kolkata, and Hampi to Bangalore is 8 hours by road. Even if you want to fly back, you may have to go to Bangalore. Alternatives: If you can change your tickets, consider flying to Bangkon from Chennai(Or even better, Bangalore, if there are any flights available). Bangalore or Channai is much closer than Kolkata to Hampi, and I think it was a bad idea booking your tickets from Kol, if you are returning there just to catch the flight. |

Our first stop is Kolkata and our last stop will be Hampi.." ------------------ @@@Hospet is the nearest rail-head for Hampi. --------- @@@The 7227/7228 Vasco-Vijayawada Amaravati Express (**currently tri-weekly), which also passes through Hospet, is being extended to Howrah (**the Railway Station for Kolkata) and its frequency is being increased to 4 Days in a week. This extension is expected to take effect from 1st July,2006. -------------- @@@If you reach Hyderabad from Kolkata, then there are two trains to Hospet which depart from Hyderabad at 17.30 hrs. and at 21.00 hrs. - both of them being daily. ---------- @@@It is understood that it is a difficult job to go to Railway Station from Bangalore Airport, whereas it is very easy to reach Railway Station (s) from Hyderabad Airport. ---------- @@@The Kolkata-Hyderabad 'normal' Economy Class Fare by Indian Airlines is Rs.12015, whereas the Kolkata-Bangalore Fare is Rs.14,715.
