You dont need a porter since most lodgings are accessible by cars or three wheelers. You wont find a guide too, since all of it is already there in Lonely Planet books or the free literature you get at the HPTDC tourist facilitation centre at The Mall. You could read the thread :

lodgings, cars and three-wheeler between Darcha and Lamayuru? That's new to me. I know they are building a road, but... I think you must be confusing the routes, Ashvin30.
Idan, normally ponymen are used for portering in Zanskar. You may be able to get a Nepalese porter in Manali though. I wouldn't know where to find either in Manali, but maybe try asking around. Maybe some trekking agencies will tell you, if you put on your friendly face! Some will perhaps get angry, but not most, I'd believe. Also, some trekking agencies might have a trek which is more or less 'full', and if you are lucky you can get a heavy discount because the marginal costs of adding you to the trekking party is quite small.Ponymen/guides are usually also available in Darcha, or atleast they were when I was there. Then again in Padum, you might also be able to find (new) ponymen. For some more useful replies I suggest you post the question in the Trekking forum, that's where most of the mountainwizards will read and reply. Best wishes Lars |

Sorry, I thought the porter/guide was meant for in and around Manali. For Darcha & Lamayuru, you will have to contact the various trekking agencies that are there in and around The Mall.

It would be very difficult to arrange for porters on your own and for this trek you will need mules as it is a long one. You can try speaking to my friend who is a local from Manali he might be able to help you out. His name is Ravi and can be reached on 09816316348
