Himachal Pradesh + Jammu and Kashmir this January

I'm planning a trip around Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir and I want to know the feasibility of such a trip in the middle of January.
So far my itinerary looks like this: New Delhi, Shimla, Dharamsala, Kullu, Manali, Jammu, and Srinagar. From Srinagar I plan on flying back to New Delhi and then going home. First, is this trip possible in the middle of January with all the snow. Second, does anyone have any additions I should make to this? I'm solo backpacker from America, and I like anything scenic. I was thinking about going to Malana to sample the hash but I heard it is not as good as it used to be, is there someplace better along my proposed route? Also is 1500 Rupees a day a reasonable budget, what type of places would I be staying in with that kind of money?

In this order; Delhi Shimla Manali (Skip Kullu!)Dharamsala/Mcleod Ganj Jammu Srinagar.

I wouldn't attempt going to Malana in Jan, if it snows you will be stuck there! KK

Thanks for the advice on Malana, I definitely do NOT want to be stuck there. Do you have any idea if the budget of 1500 Rupees a day is good enough?

It's easily doable depending how much you travel & how well you want to eat. I've paid as little as Rs50 per night in Parvati valley whereas Manali & Mcleod you are looking at around Rs 300 for budget places. KK

Hi, I believe you have enjoyed India one year ago, can you share with me your experience? I am very interested in your route, did you actually follow it? Do you travel by bus between the cities? Which bus company do you recommned?

Personally I was thinking to skip Jammu and spend more time at srinagar and the areas nearby (gulmarg, sonmard, pahelgaum)
