| hills in July I know it is the wrong time, but July is the only time I can get away, and I want to go to Uttaranchal or Himachal. Looking for some peace and quiet for a fortnight. Any suggestions (on where to go) or warnings? Thanks |

| July is the right time to go either to Kinnaur/Lahaul Spiti side in Himachal, or head towards Leh from Manali. |

| You may also consider Kasauli and Shimla.

| Consider the weather, if the rains lock in a hill station its 24/7. Had an evil time at Shimla once.. |

| Pangot is near Nainital. It's a tiny hamlet..... There are 2-3 resorts, but all in expensive category !

| Avoid Shimla and head for Kinnaur. It's just gorgeous there, and very peaceful. Ladakh would be a great alternative. Avoid the Manali area because roads notoriously get blocked by landslides during the monsoon.

| I kind of have a similar question: how about Almora in June? Is it dangerous due to landslides? Any possibility of sunshine? |

| Upto Almora there are hardly any landslides, and especially not in June. Will be warm during the day in the sun (yes to sunshine), pleasant at night and early morning. Cloudy days are better in June, if you get them.

| Thanks very much capt! So not much rain, is that right? I really dont want too many clouds - I like night photography, and I need a clear-ish sky. Some rainy days are fine, but I dont want another august. |

| I think the best time for photography may be between the end of monsoons and winter... November/December. June is not monsoon time, usually. (Warning, monsoons are supposed to be a week or two earlier this year) |
