Help to get from Hampi to Kolhapur!

Hey!
I am heading down to Hampi for a good few days with some pals but then I am heading on my own to a Vipassana meditation centre in Kolhapur, south Maharashtrar.
I am thinking will head from Hampi to Hospit, get the overnight bus to Panaji, then head from panaji to Pune then to Kolhapur.
Just wondered if there was regular bus from Panaji to Pune, and if I am arriving by myself at night will I be safe enough as a female travelling alone.

why to Kolhapur via Pune....oh ok if you want to spend time in Pune doing some things its ok but if not just take a direct Volvo to Kolhapur. There is a good service between Panaji and Kolhapur.

And hey thats interesting about Vipassana in Kolhapur... am from that place. If am not being too inquisitive...which center u going to? I know only one in Kolhapur region ... thats around 2 KM from my village. And it has a nice location indeed!

Thanks Amy, yeah Pune looks nice, but the only reason I was going to go through there was I thought it was the only way of getting to Kolhapur, but thats grand I can get straight to kolhapur from panaji, do you know how much thatd cost roughly?
The centre is just outside Kolhapur prob will be the one you are talking about! I dont have my information with me.

Oh...Glad that Pune is out of ur way from Panaji. That wud have been ONE long journey for sure

. Actually Kolhapur is on the way to Pune from Panaji.

And hey I just checked on the intenet and it is indeed the same center I talked about.

Hatkanagale, actually, is my village. And that center is at a very nice location. Those roads in the hills are my favroite skating grounds back home. Ahaa! am going there soon.You will enjoy your stay there.

Its just say 50M from these Jain temples there. I go there whenever I am home.

Let know if you need anything more on this. BTW when are u planning to be there?

and check out the location of Kolhapur, Pune and Panji... Kolhapur is hiding behind "4" here.

EDIT Have not verified the above phone numbers. Let know if they work else will get the new numbers from my friends there.
Opps.... I missed that.....about cost from Panaji to Kolhapur..it must be around 400Rs or something for Volvo...may be more during this peak season. But not more than say 600Rs

Don't know how I missed this thread, but here's the info in case anyone need it.

Train 7429 departs Hospet daily at 05:15 and gets to Chhatrapati Sahu Maharaj Terminus (Kolhapur) at 16:20.

2 tier air con = Rs 777
Sleeper class = Rs 206 (not air con)

If you have trouble booking, also try train number 7430, part of the train starts in Tirupathi, the other part starts in Hyderabad.

hmmmm......"RAYALASEEMA EXP", it is. Strange never heard of it before tho it passes Hatakanangale.

yep...just thot of finding a train back to Hospet so its the famous Haripriya express. And its really good that it has started halting at Hatkanangale.

btw what is "Slip Route"? came across a train route just now..just curious.

When a train splits to go to 2 (or 3 or 4) diferent destinations.

The above mentioned train in the opposite direction will split, with one part going to Hyderabad (maybe Kacheguda) and the other part going to Tirupathi.

I've not really looked through this thread, so later I'll re-read to find out what's at Hatkanangale, I learn trains a lot easier by finding out whats at certain places.

I only learnt about Kolhapur because I just had to know what place had a station name like Chhatrapati Sahu Maharaj Terminus.
