Hi Shruti,

I suggest you to take a volvo from Mysore to Ooty. most of the time, considerable part of the road is bad near to Ooti and therefore taxi, in addition to being expensive, can be streneous (light vehicle). In my opinion, Ooty has become a crowded tourist spot now. if you like nature, i suggest you to spend more time in Kodai compared to ooty.

Bangalore Airport is around 40kms from the KSRTC bus stop. There are plenty of government BMTC volvo services from the airport to Bus Stand/Railway station. I suggest you to look at booking a train from Bangalore to Mysore. There are plenty of trains and buses available. Railway station is next to Bus Stand anyway.

if you want to explore more on the way, consider KSTDC (Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation) packages. They are very reasonably priced for Volvo bus travel and accommodation. They also cover entry fee to all the places, they stop for exploration. As this is government corporation, you can completely enjoy your trip safely without worrying on anything.

Charan

about 1 yr back, i had booked TTDC hotel (not the youth hostel) in Ooty for a family member. cottage costed 2500 & double room was 1550. they loved the cottage & thought it was a wonderful deal. though the restaurant in the hotel was not the best option, there were adequate options nearby.

I might make it 2 night Mysore & 2 night Ooty. But then, it depends on your interests

Guys, Have to cover Koidai also. No other option......
So now 1 night Mysore, 2 night Ooty/Coonoor, 2 nights Kodai.
Mysore to ooty : Volvo bus.
Ooty to Mettupalayam by Train(if tickets are confirmed) or by bus again.

I am checking TTDC website but its not getting opened. Any other suggestions?

Any reviews for Hotel Lake View in Ooty?

take a look at this trip advise by kstdc: http://karnatakatravelguide.in/kstdc...stdc_-_mok.php - you can tweak it to meet your needs.
noted the issue with ttdc site. perhaps trying it later might help!

So guys, we are planning to spend 2 days/1 night in Ooty/Coonoor and increase the stay in Kodaikal by 1 day. Heard that Kodai is much less crowded and more beautiful place. What you say?
Any suggestion for stay in Kodaikanal?

I am from Uttarakhand; however, I found out Kodaikanal to be one of best hill stations I have visited so far. This is my personal opinion other may have different views.

Shruti, I reckon you've already received quite a few good suggestions.

However, while in Mysore, please DO NOT MISS visiting the Shivanasamudra falls (also called as "Snuff" in local parlance). This exotic waterfall is a 2 hour drive from Mysore on a scenic route and definitely worth it. The taxi through a travel agent would cost you approx. Rs. 1,600 for this trip. Worth every single penny.

So is this on the way to Ooty?

Also I have shortlisted Hotel Lake View in Ooty and Hotel Apple Valley in Kodai. Any reviews?

No, this is NOT on the way to Ooty. It is 85 Kms East of Mysore and is India's 2nd largest waterfall. If you start early, you could be back at Mysore by 3.00 p.m. Apart from the Palace, nothing much to explore in Mysore especially when yours is a short trip. A visit to either the Mysore Zoo (which is quite good) or the Wax Museum can in no way be compared to the Shivanasamudra falls. You could perhaps Wiki check this place.

The Hotel Lake View Ooty is definitely a nice option but absolutely no idea on the Hotel Apple Valley Kodai. I'm sure you could find reviews on these here. Have a safe & nice trip !

Gone through Wiki and others, beautiful place. But dont know whether in 3rd week of June, we will be able to see its full beauty or not. Also. we would be reaching Mysore at around 2-3 PM. Feasible to venture to this fall at that time?

Shruti,
Infact, this waterfall is at it's pristine best in End-June due to the Monsoons. If you reach Mysore by 2.00 p.m, you could still make it to this place by 4-4.30 and get an hour or so to enjoy the stunning moments! From personal experience, I can assure you that you wouldn't feel like leaving that place in a rush !

Have you booked your Hotel at Mysore ? If not, the Ginger Hotel (Opp. Vasanth Mahal, Nazarabad) might be a fantastic option @ Rs. 1900 per night.
