Help - Golden Triangle - Varanasi - Kathmandu - Feb 09 ??

Hi,
I could really do with some help / advice putting together a 2 week tour planned for Feb 09.
Any advice regarding,Season,Timescale, Train Times, Hotels etc. will be gratefully received. My initial idea is as follows:-

11/02 Fly to Delhi from Manchester.
12/02 Arrive Delhi 06:10 - Stay 1 night.
13/02 AM. Delhi - PM. Train to Jaipur - Stay 2 nights.
14/02 Jaipur
15/02 AM. Jaipur - PM. Train to Agra - Stay 1 night.
16/02 AGRA - Taj + Fort - Night train to Varanasi.
17/02 Varanasi - Stay 2 nights
18/02 Varanasi
19/02 Varanasi - Flight IC751 to Kathmandu - Stay 2 nights.
20/02 Kathmandu
21/02 Chitwan Park - Stay 2 nights
22/02 Chitwan Park
23/02 Kathmandu - Stay 1 night
24/02 AM. Kathmandu - PM Flight IC814 to Delhi - Stay 1 night.
25/02 Fly Home.

Hotels:
Jyoti Mahal GH - Delhi
Madhuban GH - Jaipur
Atithi - Agra
Alka - Varanasi
The KTM GH - KTM.

I'm doing a similar itinerary in March 09. Your flight Varanasi - Flight IC751 to Kathmandu
Where did you find it and how much was it? I am just really figuring out my official itinerary so I will keep in touch if I find anything helpful for you.

just back from 6 weeks in India - finishing with Varanasi to Gorakphur by train - to Sinauli by Car - a 100 metre walk across the border at Sinauli a mini-bus to Chitwan and a bus from Chitwan to Kathmandu.

We had done two weeks in a car around Rajasthan - starting and finishing in New Delhi with the night train from Delhi to Varanasi.

How are you getting from Kathmanu to Chitwan and back??

Hey Rob,
Looks like a good plan to me.
Don't know about the hotel choice. I've only stayed in Alka hotel in Varanasi. Very good place, good location on the ghats. Great courtyard and good food.

we were at Alka for three nights. It was OK probably the best Ghatside option, happy to stay there again.

your plan is perfect mate. a best way to do india . as far as hotels is matter all are quite good except have not get any idea about nepal. try to be stick up to that would get best of best.

Firstly I am sorry for the slow reply, I missed your replies to my original thread somehow ??
What I can say is that the Varanasi / Ktm / Delhi part of my trip was by far the most difficult to arrange. After many failed attempts to book the Indian IC flights on-line I was ready to take the train / bus option as mentioned by BigJed. In the end I think ( hope ) I have secured seats as follows ...

Varanasi to KTM IC 751
Cost me £130 each from Southall Travel +44 0208 843 6817 ask for Suparna ( e-mail suparna@southalltravel.com )

Kathmandu to Delhi IC 814
Cost me £100 each from opodo.co.uk
I tried Southall Travel for the KTM to Delhi but they wanted to charge £200 each.
