Help! Delhi/Agra/Rajasthan/Mumbai trip

Hi,

First of all, I would like to say that this forum has been SO SO helpful.
All the experiences posted have made me so excited to go to India.
My boyfriend and I have booked and paid for our flights from Sydney to Mumbai and now we are just trying to work out our itinerary.
Half is sorted, its the second half I need some help with...
I was wondering what the best way to travel from Delhi to Mumbai would be.
We are hoping to visit the following places:
Delhi
Agra
Jodhpur
Udaipur
Jaipur
Jaisalmer
Mumbai

Any help would be great...
thanks!

It depends on your budget Liss - for an idea a 10 day Delhi - Rajasthan tour by car should cost no more than 25,000 rupees. You can cut this cost by trains e.g. trains for Delhi - Agra; Agra - Jaipur; Jaipur - Jaisalmer; Jaisalmer - Jodhpur; Ahmedabad - Mumbai.
As Singsub says the rest by bus/car. It's worthwhile to hire a car between Jodhpur and Udaipur so you can visit Kumbalgarh and Ranakpur the same day. You can hire a car easily from any of the city stops where you will be staying.
Every cloud has a silver lining!

Does that include hotels or food?

Hi, thanks for all the advice.
Sorry I hadn't gotten back to you all sooner, its just that our planning cam to a halt as we got busy with work, but its back in full swing now.
Our budget for accomm. is about 4000 rupees a day, not sure how much for food etc.
We are currently trying to find a "decent" hotel in Mumbai.
However everything that looks nice seems to be way over our budget.
Can anyone suggest a good hotel?

Just noticing Hal's post today - sorry! No that is only for the car and driver.
Liss re a hotel in Mumbai - take a lot at the Mumbai forum - there are some threads there re hotels. Also the Hotels section here at the top of the page. If you can't find anything then post a question about a hotel in Mumbai, in the Mumbai forum.
