Hi
Its good enough for you ,because you will be little bit tired after rafting just make sure that camping will be in devprayaag(Its an excellent place). approx 90 km from rishikesh. for Haridwar just put an hour, its better to stroll in rishikesh. Also if you had 3 hrs extra for haridwar ,visit Manasa devi temple using Ropeway with your CAM. Also bargain your operator for breakfast(2times)+lunch+dinner +tea etc must be below 2000 per person!
you will feel like you hav enjoyed 1 wk Memorable holiday.

No just book from here because you have only 3 days total.
check 'camp dhaneshwar' at devprayag
site is www.dhaneshwarresorts.com
contact nos are Vikram - 09411722061, 9758490987

but bargain(must) and tell them that you are in group of 6 ppl.
their base office is in rishikesh so ask them about hrishikesh to devprayag and after camping devprayag to hrishikesh dropping (that must be included in pkg. Last time we ppl have our own vehicle thats why faced no problem for that but for you it might be a small issue because you are using train to reach Haridwar. After Hrishikesh to devprayag its better to have your own taxi so that your photography desire will be fulfilled. As you are six ppl consider to book a taxi(inova etc) believe me it will cost less on as shared between 6 ppl.

thanks!!

Devprayag is situated at the confluence point of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi River. And from this point the confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi River is known as Ganga. The town lies on the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway, approx 80-90 kms ahead of Rishikesh. It takes 2 hour minimum from rishikesh to reach devprayag including few sight seeing breaks
But as you planning to visit Gangotri, I suggest to extend your program to May to view Gomukh-gangotri glacier(18 kms ahead of gangotri) and is the best time to visit that place.

Thank you Vedja. So should I instead take them to badrinath? It has to be mix of a holy place for adults and seeing the icy peaks for kids and a retreat of 3 days for all. Don't know how to reach from Rishikesh. Bus or cab.

I strongly suggest to go ahead with your Gangotri plan instead of Badrinath. As i mentioned on the other thread where you inquired about gangotri, the place has icy peaks, a big river and a temple. So it's got that 'holy' feeling. Moreover the river ganga is in its best form there. Badrinath is further ahead and in a different direction, and it will be very crowded during the season. If you are going with family/kids, hiring cab is a better option.

Discuss this with your camp operator. I havn't faced this thats why can't give you appropriate suggestion for this but I think camps can be customized according to your need. I have seen several large camps too in devprayaag . So I suggest you to tell this to your camp operator.

Sorry for the late response. Is it ok for a 80 year old to travel to gangotri or badrinath? He once had a heart attack. I wanted a peaceful place not too high but holy and near the Himalayas.

I don't understand why you'd spend all night on a train getting barely any sleep when you could fly and be in Dehradun in an hour, and go by road to Rishikesh. My suggestion: Fly.

Guruji, train is comparatively cheaper than plain(Paise kharch hote hai jyada flight mein ), but 'athatho gumakkar jigyasa'...
