Haridwar and Rishikesh in a day

I am planning to do Golden Triangle tour for 4 days and I have 1 more day and wanted to do Haridwar and Rishikesh. I know one day is not enough but I have only limited time and in MUST DO situation.I am travelling with my aged parents.So I am looking for same day tour bus but all the bus departs from Haridwar at 3pm so I will miss the Arthi.Can any one provide me websites of any agencies it will be really help full.

If reaching in the morning, you may do it one day. You would be getting a lot of vehicles going to Laksman jhula from bus stand of Haridwar. It takes hardly 45 minutes to reach there. There are chances for you to attend aarti. But please give more details

One more option is I can take night train and reach Haridwar in the morning.Are there any local sightseeing bus?or any hotel conducting sightseeingbtours?

Most probably, there is no local sight seeing bus available there. You would be required to hire a cab for the purpose!

Southern travels and paniker travels do a 2N/1D tours from delhi to haridwar and riskiest.

Prakaant is right, there are no daily sightseeing package by bus........but it can be arrange if its a group.........I think you need to work on Google and make list of must watch........then let us know for transportation options

Than prakaant ,kumar and Kant.I called up couple of hotels in Haridwar (Hotel Panama and Hotel Shivmurthi)and enquired about them about package .They said they will arrange for a tour bus for Haridwar and Rishikesh for rs 100 per head.
Had any one taken package like this from the local lodge?

from my side, no experience like two others of my fellow IMs..........but I have a doubt, with that 100 bucks you mentioned.......is it including all major sightseeing in Rishikesh or just transport from Haridwar to Rishikesh.........bus only allow at certain points in Rishikesh.........cross check who coated you the amount

I think pkanti has pointed out a very important issue.
A shared auto guys charges 35/- from harikipauri-laxman jula one way and it amounts to 70/- per head from point to point and i doubt a bus guy will only charge you 100/= for the whole day.

Yeah sure I wil cross check I don't mind spendingcouple of 100 bucks per head extra .I prefer to go by train as I am having bad back I am skeptical to take tour us from Delhi.
Are the major attractions in Rishikesh are close by?

No I want to take train from Delhi to Haridwar and bus from Haridwar to Rishikesh

why are you making simple one complicated. Haridawr to Rishikesh just 22km. Hire a auto, car, bus or go by local train whatever you want. First of all you need to make a list of places you want to vist and use Rikshaw, local auto there.
