Golden Temple or Taj

We may have a few days prior to flying out of Delhi to do a quick trip. My last trip to India did not include the Taj as I knew that I would be returning. I had all intentions of seeing it this time but then found out that Amritsar is also only a quick train ride away. Now, given the choice of one, or the other, I would like to know what others would choose, and why?

Matter of personal taste, sure, but for me it is only the GOLDEN TEMPLE!!!

Best two days of my trip, not at all a tourist spot like the Taj. Friendliest people in India. The vibes, man.

Call me what you will, but the Taj just didn't do it for me. Maybe because I mistakenly dropped my shoe token into the tomb and had to bribe a guard to retrieve it...

Of course, the trip from Delhi is about 3 times as long...

Are you based in Delhi?

If not, what will be the last place you visit BEFORE you get back to Delhi?

You may save time by avoiding Delhi, and even be able to visit both places.

I havge visited both sites more than once, and IF yu get to the TaJ at sunrise or abouts, when few are there, it can't be beat.
I'd say the taj easily, but who am I to say?

Thanks for the information. I tend to have to cut out portions of my trip because I get caught up in places for longer than I had planned (8 days in Hampi because a festival happened to be going on etc.) and wind up rushing to catch my plane out of the country I checked into trains, as I will be coming from Goa or Bhopal, and it stops in Agra very early. The train to Amritsar leaved at a very convenient time, so Steven, it is quite possible that we will be able to do both. Great photos. A co-worker has a photo on her screen saver of her "temple back home", which is the Golden Temple. I think that I will endeavor to see both this trip. And if not, there is always next time.
