going to india...yay!

dear all,

i am goint to india for 33 days in december and want some advise on the following:

- is kodai the best place to go trekking in south india? or would anybody reccommend another place in that region? i have read on the internet that there are multiple day trekking routes with a guide but I have no idea how do find out more about these routes or how to book one.
- what is the quickest/easiest/nicest way to cochin from kodai? i have searched but can't seem to find any trains or a buses?
- madarui or hampi?
- any suggestions on how to get from varkala to hampi quickly?
- can I take a train back from hampi to mumbai?

i look forward to hearing from you all.

thanks plenty -

I would prefere Hampi But if you have only 1 day - choose Madurai.

The fastest option I believe is to take a 0792 HUBLI EXPRESS from Varkala to Hubli and than get to Hampi by train or bus or taxi. If you could afford flight - you can have a flight from Trivandrum to Bangalore and than take an overnight train straight to Hospet.

The train from Hospet (the nearest train station to Hampi) runs only twice a week, but you can get to Hubli and take a train from there.
