Goa to Mumbai train journey
Hi guys!,
I need to travel from Vasco da Gama, Goa and reach Mumbai on the 26th of July latest by 5:00 PM as I have a train to catch from Kurla. Can anyone suggest to me the best route to avail for this. Should I leave from Vasco the previous night by a bus or are there any night trains? I will be at work till around 6:00 PM so pl suggest times after 8:00 PM TIA, Niloy |

Train 2617 leaves MAO Margoa at 01:40, and arrives at KYN Kalyan Jn at 13:45. Sorry, don't know the Mumbai area, but that should leave you lots of time to get to Kurla for 17:00.

As per my knowledge there are no trains for Vasco to Mumbai. YOu will have to catch a train from Madgaon. Check out options available on http://www.erail.in/
Matsyagandha Express would have been your best bet but during monsoons it leaves Madgaon At 7.15 PM & reaches LTT (Kurla) around 6.30 AM. See if you can catch that train. Ronak.

Looking at your travel parameters you might well be better using a bus. Here's a link to the travel information you need.

I can't be sure it still exists, but one of my more memorable rides in India was taking an overnight boat from Bombay to Goa... which I presume goes (went) both ways. Ah, the adventure! |

Not surprised, but too bad. It's been a while (understatement) since I was there. But boy do I have terrific memories of that boat ride (and the Swedish girl I stayed up all night with)!!

What about buses to Mumbai then? Are they available from Vasco or do I need to travel to Panjim? Has anyone travelled by an overnight bus to Mumbai? Are they good/safe/comfortable?

In February I travelled from Madgaon through Panjim to Mumbai by bus. I think we left Panjim around 7.30pm and arrived in Mumbai about 7. The sleeper bus was quite comfortable although if you are travelling alone you could end up sharing a double bunk with anyone! Very cheap though, around 300/- though don't hold me to that. The company was Paulo travel who seem to advertise all over Goa.

But I think that I will be tied up with work till just after 6PM so would it be possible to get a bus to Mumbai at around 8-9 PM from VASCO? lso, where do these buses terminate in Mumbai? I need to go to Kurla.
