Goa is a state, not a city. So there is no city called Goa.

Try (besides the Capt.'s good tip) the "links" link in my signature for some transport sites. Hospet is, indeed, the train junction for Hampi, and you should be able to find it (station code: HPT. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...ons_in_In dia ; slow-loading, as it's massive. Most of those trains sites will offer their own functions to look up station codes anyway.)

I always heard connections between the two aren't so great, but this may well have improved, and you'll get there somehow.

I have been on the sleeper coach. You can catch it from Calangute,Panjim and lots of other places.
Its an experience, but it does take you all the way into Hampi.

It was so long since i went to Hampi on the coach. I went 2 seasons ago in A/C car,and that was a nightmare as well.
I remember it being a lot cheaper if there are a few of you booking to go to Hampi,if you pick the Coach up from Panjim. They charge another 150rs to pick the coach up in Calangute.
It cant be more than 400-500s each. Sorry but i cant remember how much. You dont sleep on those coaches.
Cant believe the train is fully booked.Try a different train station to get on the train.

Yipes you will need A/C.We got ours from that place on the right just by Candolium market. The driver of course stays with you. we had one of those Range Rover vehicles.I not sure how much it was ,there was 5 of us and the driver as well .One had to sit in the back bit of the car ! I just guessing but i should think its got to be 8000rs or £100.If i am remember rightly ,its worked out by mileage and if you want the A/C on .
You then have to get a room when you get there, but the rooms in Hampi are really cheap.
