Getting from Jaipur to Jaisalmer? Then from Jaisalmer to Goa?
Hello All,
Can anyone help me with what is the most cost-effective & time efficient way to get to Jaisalmer from Jaipur in mid-January?
Also, after spending 2-3 days in Jaisalmer, I'd like to go to Goa using the most time effective way. This will most likely be on 1/16/07 - obviously, there are no direct flights, but I'm think that flying is the best way - but do I fly out of Jaisalmer or do I go back to Jaipur to fly to Mumbai to fly to Goa?
Thanks in advance!

Hi, Overnight train to Jaisalmer from jaipur is best and cost effective way and for Goa trip, travel to Jodhpur (by bus/ Taxi or train) and fly to Goa via Mumbai as Jet Airways and Indian airlines flying this sector.
There are no flights out of Jaisalmer.
Jaipur is your best bet, as Jet airways takes you to Goa for around Rs 5000, via Mumbai.
From Jodhpur it will cost you nearly Rs 9000, also on Jet airways.

Good point - here's my prospective itinerary:
DC to Paris on 1/6
Paris to Delhi on 1/7, arrivng late night.
Spend 1/8 with family in Delhi & on 1/9, travel to Agra. I've got a cousin who works at the Taj Hotel there, and I'll most likely stay with him.
1/11, I head to Jaipur to visit my grandparents. I'll stay with them til 1/14, when I head to Jaisalmer. Not sure where I'm staying, but I figure I can find something when I get there.
On 1/16, I head from Jaisalmer to Goa, again, not sure where I'm staying, but I can figure it out when I get there. I may try to stay at the Goa Marriott Resort when I'm there (I work for Marriott & get a decent rate, if its available) - but I'm more of a backpacker type, so I may not stay there.
From Goa, I was going to head to Bangalore on 1/19 & spend 1 night there with my cousin (whom I haven't seen in about 15 years) as I fly out of Bangalore to Paris on the 20th night (flight leaves at 2AM on the 21st).
I've been to India several times as a kid, but haven't been there since I was 17 - my knowledge of the hindi lanugage is very minimal & I'm not really conversational. I got bumped on an Air France flight last year on my way home from a trip to Madrid & I got an 800 euro voucher. I felt that a good use of that voucher would be to see parts of India I hadn't been to. I'm completely flexible on my itinerary, although I must fly into Delhi on 1/7 & must leave Bangalore on 1/21 (at 2AM) - my in-country itinerary is completely adjustable, although I would like to spend at least 1-2 nights in Delhi with my aunt & 2-3 nights in Jaipur with my grandparents. I've been to Agra, but again, that was when I was about 10 years old & I barely remember it. Jaisalmer seems like a very cool place to go that's not out of the way. I've always been a fan of Thailand & the beach scene there & have heard good things about Goa as well from a backpacker's circuit type thing. Ideally, I'd like to do another trip where I go into the mountains, but since I booked my return out of Bangalore, I don't think that's going to happen.
Any thoughts or suggestions for this trip?
Thanks in advance!
