How strenuous was the stretch from Gaumukh to Tapovan? Is it easily doable? Any other inputs on the entire trek would be appreciated too.

NO OTHER PLACE TO STAY AT TAPOVAN. Mounibaba's ashram can accomodate 15 to 20 trekkers only.

18) Can we see the Neeltal from Tapovan?

Lots of questions........ Pls don't mind.
1)Not sure if middle Oct is good enough to ascend Tapovan.
2)Every chance of Snowfall is there.Even in June we had a bit of Snowfall.
3)The last climb to Tapovan might be quite dangerous if snow falls.
4)same as 3)
5)I know a friend of mine having trekked to Tapovan in late Sept withstanding tremendous cold weather.
6)Available from Court Bunglow Forest Office, a 2 km walk from Uttarkashi bus stand. For a particular day 120 persons are permiitted from Uttarkashi Office and 30 permissions are given from
Gangotri check post.On Sundays and holidays all 150 permissions are given from Gangotri check post.
7)Not available by fax
8)On first come first basis the total permission episode should not take more than 15 minutes. The office opens at 10am.
9)Rs150 per head for the first two days and then on Rs50 for each extra day.
10)You have to go to Uttarkashi first and stay at least one day for the permission. From Haridwar Government bus available at 6.30am and 8.00am for Uttarkashi. Fare is Rs 257 per head. 8.00 am bus reaches Uttarkashi at around 4 o'clock in the afternoon.
11)Full 10 seater car demands Rs 6000 to Rs 7000 for Haridwar to Uttarkashi.
12)So many hotels and ashrams are there in Gangotri but in June the cost was quite high.
13)Depends upon the rush. Like we couldn't get accomodation in Tapovan and stayed in our tent
14)Lal Baba ashram is preferable as total 70 people can stay in there at a rate of Rs 300 per head
including fooding, much cheaper than GMVN.
15)NO MATAJI in Tapovan ONLY MOUNIBABA is available who can afford 15 to 20 people's accomodation
16)My daughter aged 11yrs could do it, why not she? Only courage and self belief is required.Take plenty of Glucose water, and sip after every 15 to 20 steps, take time while climbing and to avoid breathing trouble spend a night at Gangotri for acclimatization and take homeopathy medicine Coca-6 ever one hour from Gangotri itself.Remember all headaches and vomitting happens due shortage of water in the body so drink lots of glucose water.
17)Not sure if mid Oct is proper to go to Tapovan. You have to stay in Bhujbasa one night on your trek to Tapovan from Gangotri.
18)Yes Neeltal can be trekked from Tapovan. But it cannot be readily seen from Tapovan.

happens take
Himalaya my love

Guys, you shouldn't mention your mobile number so openly in any such forums. Private message is a better way of doing that. Identity fraud....etc.. just a suggestion

are you saying that you started a thread in which you asked a question? if yes then that wasnt necessary as we already have an active thread that covers tapovan and Gomukh. please close the new thread if no one has replied and post your question here. you will get more response to your query by doing this.

We 3-4 friends from office are planning for small trekking to Gomukh & Tapovan by mid of Aug (13th Aug specifically). We are going by own vehicle. Need advise on below points for this trip.

1. Any major risk for our trip during this monsoon period (Although rain god is not happy this time )

5. How/where to get permits for trekking & cost.
6. How to arrange accomodation/food during trekking. Cost for the same.
