From Hyderabad to Varanasi
hi ya all,
i am doing my itinerary and i am wondering what to do between hyderabad and varanasi... the trip by train would last too long for me so i thought it cut it up and mak 1 to 3 stops in between... i am reading my lonley planet but he doesnt help me to find any opportunities... so do you have any suggestions to do this trip in approximately one week (+/- 2 days).. what about the route via chattisgarh? i am traveling alone so might this isnt a good idea, but i do welcome all suggestions.. nice greez, stephan |

r u travelling by road or by train.....i suggest u travel by train as the roads are not easily accessible as they need to go through dense forests in madhyapradesh. if its a train it takes only 30 hours maximum and i dont think u need a hault in between.

yes ive read this, but 30 hours
what to do on the train... my feets will hurt... i need to move around to keep fresh... so this will not be possible in a train i think.. so i thought a stop in between that distance would be fine |

Bundelkhand
Take the biweekly AP sampark kranti to Jhansi. it is a fast train. You can head to gwalior which is not faraway. It has decent places to stay and a nice fort to visit. You can then take the Bundelkhund to varanasi.
2707 +A P SMPRK KRNTI *SECUNDERABAD JN 17:55 JHANSI JN 12:00 Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. It is relatively quick and has the most convenient timings but skips Gwalior and heads to Delhi straight away. It has 1AC and 2AC. Both the 1077 JHELUM EXPRESS leave JHANSI Jn at 13:43 and reach GWALIOR at 15:13. 2137 PUNJAB MAIL *JHANSI JN 14:30 GWALIOR 16:00 which has 1AC and 2AC. serve as good connections for the 1.5 hour ride. Gwalior has better places to stay with good hotels. You could use clear trip etc to book online. You have reached a little nearer and it may be a better idea to push upto Jhansi by the Sampark Kranti. The 1107 Bundelkhand leaves at 20.40hrs and reaches Varanasi at 10.50AM the next day and has 2AC. You could savour the many interesting sights of Gwalior and then continue to Varanasi. You need not come back to revisit gwalior again. Don't worry about travel options. There are plenty of ways to reach varanasi apart from the direct train from Hyderabad[Secunderabad station], a train which I would not recommend because of its poor track record. You can even head take the 1027 Konark which leaves in the Hyderabad[Secunderabad station] in the morning, and gets to Bhubaneshwar early next morning or the 1700hrs 7016 Visakha Express which leaves Hyderabad[Secunderabad station] in the evening and reaches Bhubaneshwar next afternoon. Savour the sights of Bhubaneshwar[if you alighted at Khurda road which precedes Bhubaneshwar, you could visit Puri and see the beach and temple] and then take the Puri New Delhi [both the Puri NDLS and the neeclachal also halt at Bhubaneshwar] express to mughulsarari which is near Varanasi or the Neelachal which goes to Varanasi. Don't worry. It is so easy to reach Varanasi and you can break either in Gwalior or Bhubaneshwar. Bhubaneswar has nice places to stay. You can approach varanasi from the west and the eastern direction. All the above trains have 2AC. |
