forced to make some decisions!!

Hi everyone,

I am planning a trip to kerala/tamil nadu in august and need some advice. sadly i dont have all the time in the world (im working in mumbai until july 28 and have to be back in the states around aug 17). I had planned to go to goa, kochin, madurai, tanjore, pondicherry and fly out of chennai on the 15th. but a friend of mine in sri lanka invited me to spend some time with him.

Is it worth cutting out one or two of those stops in order to see sri lanka? if so which two would you suggest leaving for next time? or should i leave sri lanka out all together?

thanks for the help!
-Evan

I think camelgirl gave you good advice already in her earlier reply to your similar question. http://www.indiamike.com/india/showt...5#post32 7795

You can visit anywhere quickly but I don't recommend it. SL does not have the tourist infrastructure that India has, probably because of 25 years of civil war and not many tourists. There are a few trains but the majority of people hire car & driver to go everywhere outside of Colombo. There are two prices for everything. I don't mean they try to overcharge you, I mean there are two actual prices, one for tourists and one for locals. This is unfortunate but the way it goes. There's lots to see the people are wonderful and desperate for tourists who once again have mostly stopped coming due to an upsurge in fighting and suicide bombers in Colombo again.

I wonder if you are looking for someone to give you the answer you already know you really want to hear - though I don't know what it is - but I wonder if somehwhere in your heart or head you do.

I agree with camelgirl, you do not have enough time in India to see what you want to see, do not rush India. If you really want to visit your friend in SL just go there and visit India later, or just spend the time you have in India and take your time.

PS Where do you go to school in Connecticut?
