Filling the gaps between Mysore and Mumbai- advice on areas to visit?
Hi, me again,
Our 3 week trip is taking shape. We have about 5 days yet to be accounted for as we travel between Mysore and Mumbai towards the middle of August. It's quite nice to have this flexiblity built into our trip, so my question is that if we still have this time available where should we try and visit/even make a detour too? Hampi/Hospet is a probable but wondering if any less well-known spots can be recommended around the monsoons? Regards Jinj |

During our last trip we were some days in Bijapur and Badami. Both are nice places to go and not full of tourists.
For more information on our days there see the link below this post. |

Hampi would be my first choice, then maybe Hyderabad and then Bijapur and finally Bidar.
But with 5 days, you will have to pick and choose.

Hampi is the best bet but if you have a car at your disposal then I would also suggest going to Badami, Pattadakkal and Aihole which are all almost together and also to Belur and Halebid which are close to each other. Stay at Badami and at Belur for each of these places besides Hampi. You can see Belur and Halebid in one day and the other three in two days besides Hampi for two days at least. Hope this helps.
Cheers, Aadil.

Thanks Arunchs,
Liked your blog- some nice photos. Trying not to read too much of it now as been sucked in and fear it will leave no unturned stones for us! It's a nice idea as are the villages above- need to look at logisitics now. I imagine if we go to Dandeli we'll need to make allowances for road probs in monsoon season? |

![]() But not too bad, they are actually better than they used to be a few years ago. If you are doing Dharwad - Dandeli and back, I think it is alright. |
