ex delhi-ite returns for 1 week in march, adventure and sun needed!

Hey everyone,

I’m a 20 year old student making my way back to India at Easter for two weeks to visit friends in Delhi. I lived in Delhi for 8 months in 2006/07 and travelled a lot but would like some advice on where to head next!

I’ve done (and the list is quite long, so bear with me!) Jaipur ,Amritsar, Dharamsala as weekend trips. In U.P, M.P and W. Bengal: Agra , Kolkata, Varanasi, Bhopal, Orchha, Sanchi, Gwalior and Khajuraho. In Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu: Hampi , Bangalore, Mysore, Mangalore, Mercara, The Backwaters, Kochi, Somnathpur, Pondicherry, Mamallapuram, Thanjavur and Chennai. Plus Ranthambore, Panna and Periyar National Parks (and not one tiger..grr

)

Rajasthan, the mountains and the North East I don’t want to do this time and likelihood is I’ll be travelling by myself which is something I haven’t done before, in India or anywhere else so safety is an issue. It would also be nice to meet people - Indians and travellers alike.

I want to see something new, in the sunshine, I’ve got a week (end of March) and a budget of £200. Any ideas?

Why not spend some time in Gujarat? You could go to Diu for sunshine, go all the way out to Dwarka or Bhuj... the food's good and it's a bit warmer than Rajasthan, people are very nice.

Rachel , that's quite a long list !...although it seems like you have missed Maharashtra in that list ..many options are here too.... Cities - Mumbai,Pune,Nashik,Aurangabad , Ajanta - Ellora caves , hilly places like - Mahabaleshwar , Matheran , Bhimashankar ,Lonavala/Khandala & Coastal area of Kokan region if you prefer beach ( Alibag , Ganpatipule ,Vengurla, Vijaydurg ,Sindhudurg etc. etc.- all way upto Goa & btw all these places are perfectly safe to venture (even for single traveler)
