Estimated driving times: Agra-Gwalior-Orchha-Khajuraho

I've got maps and I know the distances between these places, but if someone knows the nature of the roads etc, I'd really appreciate your estimates of the driving times between them -- assuming more or less normal, careful professional driving, no rushing around.

Agra-Gwalior

Gwalior-Orchha

Orchha-Khajuraho

If you know distances between places on national highways in India, take an average of 55 km per hour.. this will give you a good idea of the total time you will take, including stops for meals, getting in and out of cities, bottlenecks etc etc... but no major stops except 45 mins or an hour for meals.

So 550 km should take total time of 10 hours. If you start at 4am, you should reach by 2 pm.

Condition of roads will not be too good post monsoons... but, Agra Gwalior/Jhansi is an excellent road usually (last drove in 2003) ; the one to Orchha/Khajuraho may not be that good.

On State Highways, calculate at 45km/hour including stops.

Orchha to Khajuraho is about five and a half hours on a very bad road!!! The roads were always bad when I travelled a lot in the whole of Madhya Pradesh a couple of years ago. Don't think the condition of the roads has changed very much, I had seen National Highways which were nothing more than dirt tracks for pretty long stretches on some routes.

Cheers,
Aadil.

may be my habbit of taking lots of breaks or driving slow. i always get 40 kmph on a daily average. i drive around 90 kmph on good roads and 60 kmph when i am close to men, women, children or livestock . dont know many places where you dont find them.

best i have got is 70 kmph between mumbai(ghadbunder or some similar check naka) and gandhi nagar.
