Do-able Itinerary?
Hi
Im planning a trip to India and Nepal in Oct, got a rough plan - does this sound do-able to anyone who has been? Land Delhi mid-afternoon 2 nites in Delhi 2 nites in Jaipur 2 nites in Agra - overnite train to Varanasi 2 nites in Varanasi 1 nite in Gorakphur - then on to Nepalese border 1 nite in either Lumbini or Bhairawa - bus to kathmandu 2 nites Kathmandu - flight back to Delhi in the afternoon 1 nite in Delhi Fly home late evening next day We want (3 of us) to see a fair few places with at least a full day in each place without travelling, I know that theres a fair bit of travel involved but with 2 nites inbetween shouldnt that be enough time to chill out? |

Try your hardest now to get booked into the Pearl Palace in Jaipur, it's probably the best hotel I stayed in out of the 32 on my last trip!
From there I took an overnight bus to Agra and then a train out 15 hours later to Varanasi, where I stopped for seven days and rested. It's that type of place. So, I would suggest you cut Agra to one night and spend more time in Varanasi thus giving yourself a bit of a break from pack, travel, unpack etc. Even though your itin seems spaced out sometimes you need to know you're not moving for a while and recharge. |

It's doable, but I would drop Jaipur for someplace nicer in Rajasthan. 2 nights Agra isn't really necessary. Might want more time in Kathmandu. It's really beautiful the valley there, and there's soo much to see. 2 nights there really is a tease.

Thansk for the advice, just remembered something else about Gorakhpur-would it better to get from Varanasi stright on the border, missing out a nite in Gorakhpur altogether? anyone got any experience of Gorakhpur? I really only factored the nite-stop there to break up the long journey between Varanasi and the border. If I could miss the nite there we could have an extra nite in Kathmandu.

For the limited time you'll have in Kmd. I'd be suggesting that you try flying direct from Varanasi to Kmd.
This will save you a lot of time and you can enjoy an extra couple of days in Kathmandu. Cheers Zoltan
