Lightbulb delhi to trivandrum

Hi everyone!

New to indiamike but not to india! I've spent a lot of time in the north of the country, but this time i'm going to head to trivandrum and the south as i've never been.

We are thinking of breaking up the trip maybe in one or two stopovers. Can anyone reccomend any good "off the beaten track spots" where the train stops, where we could stay for one or two nights.

thanks!

By the way it will be monsoon season, 6th or so of august....Will the rains have passed kerala by that point?
