Consider doing Bhowali/Mukhteshwar/Almora/Bageshwar etc too. Just slightly longer, but Mukhteshwar is worth a visit.
Or maybe on the way back. And Chaukori is worthwhile between Bageshwar and Munsiyari. |

Capt. I have been to Mukteshwar its indeed a real treat. I have been to Kausani (by my wagonR and I drove it)last year , a very beautiful place.
I will be going with my family we have a 5 years old son. what i want to know is how is the road condition, I have heard around Bageshwar there is danger of landslides. |

My information is anecdotal.
I have seen landslides in the monsoons there, no big deal. Never saw the road shut, but that can happen, in which case you go back. Once I was stuck overnight in winter near Ramgarh because the road was iced and shut.. that was bad.. cold, one year old daughter... But you are going in June, I dont think this will be a problem. The roads upto Almora are good. Almora onwards they may be poorly maintained in parts.. even if you were to go in a WagonR it wouldnt be a problem. Ensure tyres and brakes are good though, and handbrake working, and no oil leaks... but I am sure you know that, having driven in the hills. |

Actually I want to show my son the real snow/ice, that to in uttaranchal. Could you suggest some destinations where it is possible in the month of june, though it will be difficult to get snow/ice in june.

June is not the month for snow/ice... the monsoons start around mid June, or are supposed to.
Which brings me to the fact that with the present climate change, it is difficult to predict this.. in the last six months we have had reports of unseasonal snow and receeding glaciers in the Himalayas.. not to talk of an above averge heat wave right now. I suspect (though am not sure) you will have to go much further up to see snow/ice at close quarters... maybe somebody else will know better. |
