Delhi - Leh - Manali - Shimla - Chandigargh - Amritsar - Haridwar - Agra - Delhi
Delhi - Leh - Manali - Shimla - Chandigargh - Amritsar - Haridwar - Agra - Delhi
Hi All
We've booked for 25 nights in India from Mid August and are planning on the following rough itinerary. Was just hoping for a little advice as to whether people think this would be a little hectic in the time we have.
Delhi - 1 night
Fly to Leh - 7 nights
Overland to Manali - 4 nights including journey
Shimla - 2 nights
Chandigargh - 2 nights
Amritsar 2 nights
Haridwar - 2 nights
Agra - 2 nights
Delhi - 2 nights
As I say I was just hoping for a little advice from your good selves as to if you think this is a realistic itinerary in the time that we have. We are a little concerned that there might be a bit too much time spent travelling as we don't want to constantly be on the go, but do want to see as much as we realistically can! The only things we have booked are the flights in and out of Delhi and from Delhi to Leh. Apart from that we are pretty flexible but would definitely like to go to Amritsar as well as going on the toy train out of Shimla.
Any help/advice/recomendations would be much appreciated

Any specific reason for 2 days in Chandigarh?
Another option would be to skip Chandigarh and take a train from Ambala to Amritsar. The days kept for Chandigarh could be used any where else.
I think you are trying to fit in too many places. If I had to remove 2 places then it would be Chandigarh and Haridwar.

Thanks for the quick reply aarosh
My partner had read about the rock garden in Chandigargh and would like to visit it. However, I'm sure that we could certainly reduce it to one night if we do go there. Do you know how regularly the trains from Ambala to Amritsar run?
Haridwar was the place which we had thought we might end up dropping. I would really like to go but it's a little out of the way in comparison to the other places. Does anyone who's been there have any advice about if it would be worthwhile or not?

Check www.erail.in for trains between 2 cities. You will be any ways getting down at Kalka by the toy train. Chandigarh is the next major train station and Ambala is after Chandigarh.
Haridwar is worth while, Rishikesh more worth while, but looking at your number of days and the places that you intend to visit it is out of the way.

Thanks again - that site looks very useful.
I think you've probably confirmed what we suspected about Haridwar being a bit too far out the way. Perhaps not realistic if we are going to go to Amritsar and I think that would be our preference out of the two.

I'd skip Ch'garh & Amritsar, which would give you a extra day in Manali an extra day in Rishi/haridwar & you could consider 2 days at Rewalsar 1hr from Mandi, between Manali & Shimla.KK SOS: Missing Person...
